New School Year. New Level. You've Got This.

Let's be real...the first week of school can feel like A LOT.

New teachers. New classmates. New schedules. New expectations. If your brain feels like it's running 100 tabs at once, you're definitely not the only one.

If you have ADHD, autism, or your brain just works a little differently, remember this: You don't have to be perfect—you just need a plan.

Before school starts, ask your child/pre-teen/teen:

  • What's one thing that helped them last year?

  • What stressed them out?

  • What can you as a parent and what can they do differently this time?

Maybe it's setting reminders on the phone (parents share a calendar with them). Maybe it's packing the backpack the night before instead of rushing in the morning.

Maybe on Saturday or Sunday’s encourage them to choose 6 outfits to wear M-F. Why 6? The extra gives options based on what the feeling is that day. Always, choose 2 favorite outfits. Less to do in the morning =’s less stress to start the day!

Here's a secret: Small changes = big wins.

Don't compare yourself or your child/teen to everyone else. Social media only shows the highlight reel—not the late-night homework struggles, forgotten assignments, or anxiety before a test. Everyone is dealing with something.

Progress over perfection.

Celebrate asking for help. Celebrate making it through a tough day without giving up. Those wins count.

And if it is a bad day? So, what. Bad days don't define you. They teach you.

Your brain isn't broken. It just learns differently. And sometimes, different is exactly what the world needs.

So everyone take a deep breath, walk through those school doors, and remember...

This is your year. Go show the world what makes you, YOU.
