October is here! Ghosts, goblins, haunted houses, and all things spooky are everywhere. But for some of us, the scariest thing isn't hiding in a haunted house.
It's setting a GOAL!
Let's be real. Whether you're neurodivergent or just human, setting goals can feel overwhelming. Between school, work, friendships, family expectations, and the pressure to have life figured out, sometimes just deciding where to start feels like walking into a haunted maze.
For neurodivergent individuals, challenges with executive functioning, organization, time management, or fear of failure can make those goals feel even more intimidating.
But here's the trick (and the treat)!
Goals don't have to be BIG to be meaningful.
Maybe your goal is to:
Start a conversation with someone new.
Break a big assignment into smaller, manageable steps.
Learn to manage your own schedule.
Apply for that first job.
Try something outside your comfort zone.
And parents, this applies to you, too! Sometimes the goal is simply to survive the week without losing your cool. Let's face it, we've all had those days when we could've traded the car keys for a broomstick and flown straight into the weekend!
Take the Scary Out of Starting
Instead of focusing on the entire haunted house, focus on opening one door at a time.
Break big goals into smaller steps, celebrate progress (even the tiny victories), and remember that everyone's path looks different.
At Angel Empowering Angels, LLC, we believe growth happens one step at a time. Through life coaching and group experiences, we help individuals build confidence, develop real-world skills, and turn big goals into manageable steps and meaningful accomplishments.
So this October, don't let your goals haunt you!
Take that first step. Make a plan. Ask for support when you need it.
Because the only thing scarier than chasing a goal might be never discovering what you're capable of achieving!
And remember… progress is a treat worth celebrating!
